o    Optimal Performance Specialists, LLC is a subsidiary of Orthopaedic Rehab Specialists, PC. It was created to focus and educate individuals on topics related to sports fitness and injury prevention. We provide services to parents, coaches and athletes in the greater Jackson area. When it comes to athletics, Optimal Performance Specialists can help you become better at whatever you, your child or your team wants to become. Whether it’s faster, quicker, or the ability to jump higher, OPS will help you build the skills you need. We look to create equal parts of quality and quantity at all times.  It is counterproductive for someone to run fast with poor technique because of the vulnerability of injury.

o    OPS also provides Athletic Performing Testing to 14 schools in the Jackson area and also Jonesville High School.

o   Our Philosophy is broken into four main areas to make athletes perform optimally no matter what their sport.  First with agility we teach athletes to make proper cuts, shuffles, drop steps, backpedals, and others to be able to react and move quickly.  By learning the proper form and motions it decreases the likelihood of injury and increases performance.  Second, speed is emphasized in order to create proper running form and increase speed.  We use ground speed work and a high speed treadmill to help create good form and increase stride length and frequency which in the end makes us faster.   Third, power is emphasized with maintaining proper joint stability and motion throughout the exercise and we look to optimize force rate production with our athletes.  Finally, our strength program uses a progression model that starts with body weight exercises to ensure proper technique and progresses to loading the athlete properly at the desired set and rep ratios to create the desired outcome.  Therefore, looking at principles of strength, hypertrophy, and endurance depending on the season the athlete is in.
